Thank you for your interest in volunteering with The Family Place!

Volunteers serve an integral role in the operation of the agency. Your gifts of time and talent in our programs and fundraising efforts support our efforts to keep an open door to survivors of domestic violence in North Texas. Whether you are an individual, part of a church, scouting or community group or a corporate entity, we will work with you to find a meaningful placement on The Family Place volunteer team.

Your first step is to apply to become a volunteer. Once you have completed the application you will receive a confirmation email. Volunteers are required to complete the application, a Criminal Background Check, and complete our in-person orientation that we host each quarter.

Work Behind the Scenes

If you enjoy administrative work, we are always in need of help at our locations around Dallas area. Typical volunteer assignments include greeting visitors, filing, clerical work, answering phones and data entry.

Volunteers assist in merchandising and retail sales, as well as sorting incoming donations of clothing and household items.

Your group can hold a special event for the women, men, and children in our care. We are always looking for groups to provide a celebration, a game day, carnival, for example, during the holidays, or any time throughout the year. Summertime is a good time to host activities for the kids in shelter such as ice cream social, themed arts and crafts, outdoor games and more.

Work with Clients

Childcare plays a vital role in helping us provide care and support for children in our residential programs by volunteering in our Child Development Center, Dallas Counseling Center, and our After School Program to help children feel safe and valued during a challenging time.

Get your team involved with The Family Place through activities like donation drives, assembling starter kits, fun days at shelter or even serving meals. Learn more about how to get involved as a company.
