2023 event on May 18 among first at new JW Marriott Dallas Arts District opening in April
DALLAS, TEXAS (January 25, 2023) – The Family Place – Texas’ largest family violence service agency now in its 45th year – is honored to announce that Brooke Hortenstine, Margaret Stafford, and Piper Wyatt have committed to creating a mission-focused fundraising experience as co-chairs for ReuNight’s guests on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
Throughout its ten-year history, ReuNight, an intimate dining and luxury live auction event benefiting The Family Place, has been hosted at many notable Dallas-area locations. This year’s co-chairs, longtime supporters of The Family Place, are thrilled to ReuNight with friends and supporters at what will be the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District hotel’s inaugural fundraising event.
Funds raised at ReuNight will allow The Family Place to continue empowering survivors of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling, and skills that create independence. In addition, it will enhance community engagement, help families progress from fear to safety and build brighter futures.
“On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. And 38 percent of Texas women have experienced intimate-partner violence in their lifetime,” said Mimi Sterling, CEO of The Family Place. “This is why we are incredibly grateful for our co-chairs’ support and willingness to plan a memorable, meaningful fundraising event aimed at creating brighter futures for survivors of domestic violence.”
Brooke Hortenstine, a 7th generation Texan and native Houstonian, is the co-founder of Ashlar Projects, a branding and marketing firm with a focus on the real estate, design, hospitality and luxury realms. Prior to Ashlar Projects, Brooke was a seasoned editor fulfilling every editorial role with PaperCity Magazine in Dallas. Throughout her career, she has remained involved in the non-profit landscape as an active member of Cattle Baron’s Ball, co-chairing Park and Palette benefitting Klyde Warren Park with her business partner, Missy Wyszynski, and much more. Brooke is an avid traveler and design enthusiast, and is the proud mom of two sons, Rollins and Hayes Hortenstine.
Margaret Stafford, originally from Florida and an FSU graduate, Margaret moved with her family to Dallas when her children were young. She is the former Associate Publisher of PaperCity Dallas and currently consults with luxury media brands. She supports local charities and was a member of Cattle Barons Ball and the Junior League of Dallas, and she previously co-chaired Vine & Dine with Piper. Margaret is the proud mother of Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams Quarterback, and daughter, Page Clark, and is doting grandmother to six rambunctious grandchildren.
Piper Wyatt is an LSU graduate and owns PK Home, Inc, a wholesale textile rep agency. Piper is an active member of the Crystal Charity Ball and was Silent Auction Special Gifts co-chair in 2018. Her past chairmanships include Vine & Dine benefitting Ability Connection, which she co-chaired with Margaret, underwriting chairman for the Art Ball, A Special Evening benefitting LaunchAbility and underwriting chair with her husband Mike for Park and Palate benefitting Klyde Warren Park. She is also a past member of Cattle Barons Ball. Piper has been involved with The Family Place for many years and co-chaired Stiletto Strut in 2012 and co-chaired Palm Night with Brooke in 2008. She and her husband reside in Dallas with their rescue dog, Minnie Pearl.
This year’s ReuNight event will take place at the JW Marriott Dallas Art District, which is growing its footprint in Texas with the launch of this newest hotel concept. Designed by Todd Fiscus of Todd Events, ReuNight guests will enjoy an evening of al fresco cocktails and exceptional cuisine by a celebrity chef, as well as a luxury live auction.
“The Family Place is a great organization supporting members of our community in times of need,” said Mike Culver, General Manager of the JW Marriott Dallas Arts District. “We are thrilled they chose our hotel as a partner for their annual gala. This event is a perfect opportunity for our hotel to begin what will be a long- lasting positive impact in our local area.”
Support from this year’s event is critical as one in three Texans will experience domestic violence during their lifetime – one of the highest rates in the country. Sponsorships for ReuNight are available now from $5,000 to $50,000. Individual tickets priced at $1,500 will be available April 17, 2023.
